Pique Nique - A Haven for Relaxation and Soulful American Fare

The interior

Located at the basement of Ngee Ann City, Pique Nique is a haven for relaxation and soulful American food and desserts. The brainchild of Chef Pang Kok Keong, who is also the founder of Antoinette (French bistro-patisserie) and Sugar Daddy Group (holding company for the two F&B outlets), Pique Nique aims to offer understated and delicious comfort food in a relaxed setting. Chef Pang has also won World Gourmet Summit Pastry Chef of the Year for three consecutive years.

Start your day with the Classic Benedict (two poached eggs with toasted English muffin, steamed ham, hollandaise sauce served with side salad - $12) or the Pique Nique’s Big Breakfast (two eggs poached, scrambled or fried, grilled bacon or pork sausage, grilled tomato, baked beans served with white toast and side salad with a choice of orange juice or coffee -$15.80)

The Pique Nique’s Classique Burger 

An all-time favourite is The Pique Nique’s Classique Burger (beef patty with aged cheddar cheese, ketchup, tomato, shredded lettuce, sliced onion and dijon mustard - $12.80) which is juicy, tantalising and absolutely satisfying.

Petit Mac and Cheese 

The Petit Mac and Cheese (elbow macaroni baked in Pique Nique’s cheese sauce with Swiss Gruyere, parmesan and mozzarella cheese - $7.80) is rich and creamy and aims to satiate even the most discerning of taste buds.

Chilli Seafood Spaghetti

Fans of seafood will love the Chilli Seafood Spaghetti ($18.80) tossed with a generous serving of calamari, mussels, prawns, white wine and spiced tomato sauce. The sauce is robust, zesty and spicy at the same time, making every mouthful gratifying.

Whoopie Fries

For the sides, you must not miss the signature Whoopie Fries ($8.80) prepared with a blend of seasoning and spices and served with creamy mayonnaise and ketchup. Sinfully delicious.

Sticky Dates Pudding

For a sweet finale, go for the Sticky Dates Pudding ($12) accompanied with butterscotch and vanilla ice cream or the Hot Iron Waffle served with Salty Caramel ($11.80).

The decadently divine pudding makes one’s taste buds tingle with ecstasy while the waffle’s crisp exterior and fluffy interior is a heavenly treat for the senses.

Helmed by Chef Frederic Faucheux, from Loire Valley in France, the restaurant specialises in contemporary Asian cuisine. Dining at KU DÉ TA is a multi-sensory experience where taste, presentation and service combine seamlessly. Each dish superbly executed and elegantly plated, resembling an art piece.

Grilled prawn salad

Start your meal with the refreshing grilled prawn salad with baby spinach, parmesan, dried miso enhanced with aromatic truffle oil. The different elements blend beautifully, making every mouthful gratifying. 

Seared black angus beef tataki

The seared black angus beef tataki is another winning starter paired with pickled radish, wafu sauce and sesame. The unique combination of flavours uplifts one’s senses and heightens the overall dining experience. 

Crispy stick baby squid

A house favourite is the crispy sticky baby squid with black pepper drizzled with lime. Crunchy and appetising, this will leave you craving for more.

Pan-fried foie gras

The pan-fried foie gras offers a unique twist from the usual foie gras as it is paired with unagi. The pickled mango and soju jelly give it a zesty, tangy taste while the rice crackers add a crunch to every bite. Flavourful without being overwhelming.

Roasted black cod

For the mains, go for the roasted black cod accented with shishito, pickled red onions and lemon. Light and tasty, this dish is simple yet absolutely stunning, Diners with a heartier appetite will be enthralled by the succulence of the beef tenderloin accentuated with chilli red miso glaze and avocado tempura. A dish not to be missed by meat aficionados.
